ICAR Sponsored Winter School inaugurated at ICAR-CPRI, Shimla

A 21-day (February 12th to March 4th, 2025) ICAR Sponsored winter school on “Frontier technologies in crop improvement, production, and extension for horticultural research & its industrial application” was inaugurated today at the ICAR-Central Potato Research Institute, Shimla.

 

The Chief Guest, Dr Major Singh, Member (PS), Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, briefed about the current status and the future potential of genetically modified (GM) crops and gene editing in Indian agriculture. He emphasized the crucial role of extension in bridging the gap between the institute and the farming communities.

 

Earlier, Dr Brajesh Singh, Director, ICAR-CPRI, Shimla highlighted the recent advancements in horticultural research, particularly in potato research and development. 

Dr Alok Kumar, Course Director, briefed about the objectives, and course contents of the winter school.

A total of 20 participants from 11 SAUs with their 8 disciplines of agricultural sciences attended the programme. 

Dr Pynbianglang K., Dr Salej Sood, Dr Vikas Mangal & Dr Ajay K Thakur, coordinated the programme.
