A transformative step towards strengthening agricultural practices took center stage today with the inauguration of a 15-day residential certificate course on ‘Integrated Nutrient Management for Fertilizer Dealers’ at the Rathindra Krishi Vigyan Kendra (RKVK, Visva Bharati, Birbhum. The collaborative endeavor by the RKVK, Birbhum, Fertilizer Association of India (FAI) – Eastern Region (FAI-ER), Kolkata, and ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata aims to empower agro-input dealers with essential technical expertise in fertilizer application and soil health management.
Dr Vinoy Kumar Saren, Vice-Chancellor, Visva Bharati, emphasized that the programme is well-timed to fulfill its mandate, ensuring that dealers are properly equipped to offer informed, science-based recommendations.
Dr Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, emphasized the critical importance of technical knowledge among fertilizer dealers about integrated plant nutrient management to provide accurate guidance to farmers. Dr Dey also stated that the training programme is designed to align with government goals and empower fertilizer dealers as trusted advisors, promoting sustainable practices and soil health in the remotest corners.
About 30 enthusiastic participants from the West Bengal State Cooperative Marketing Federation Ltd. attended the programme.
