Shri Sanjay Garg, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary (ICAR) visited ICAR-National Research Centre for Grapes, today. He interacted with the scientists, AO, AAO and FAO of the institute.
Dr Kaushik Banerjee, Director, ICAR-NRCG, briefed about the institute’s ongoing research activities, including the expansion of grape cultivation in non-traditional regions, the introduction of the institute’s grape varieties in the NEH (North Eastern Hill) region, and the implementation of the Clean Plant Programme. He emphasized the importance of collaborating with regional or local authorities to track the progress of the grape expansion efforts and to train local KVK staff for effective technology transfer. Dr Banerjee also highlighted the institute’s plans to submit project proposals to various national funding agencies to support technology development and the growth of grape cultivation.
