Input distribution-cum-skill development programme to enhance livelihood opportunities under NICRA-TDC organised

An input distribution-cum-skill development programme on Scientific Rearing of Goat was organised by Cooch Behar Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Uttar Banga Krishi Viswavidyalaya, UBKV) under the jurisdiction of ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata under NICRA-TDC project. The programme aimed to empower small farmers and promote sustainable agricultural livelihoods while enhancing resilience in the region.

 

Prof. D. Basu, Vice-Chancellor, UBKV, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in uplifting farmers' livelihoods.

Dr Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, portrayed NICRA-TDC as a bridge between research and practice—a catalyst for innovation and climate change adaptation, nurturing the roots of sustainable agricultural development.

Prof. Prabhat Kumar Pal, Director Extension Education, and Prof. Prodyut Kumar Paul (Registrar, Actg.), spoke about the importance of the Black Bengal Goat in the region.

Dr S. Saha, Head, KVK, Cooch Behar, coordinated the programme and shared insights on the achievements of NICRA-TDC in the district.

A total of 20 beneficiaries received 40 Black Bengal goats as well as scientific knowledge and practical skills to enhance income generation through goat rearing.
