One-day interface meeting on ‘Developmental perspectives in agriculture and allied sectors’ was held at ICAR- Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Assam today.
Shri Paramananda Chayengia, Chief Executive Member, MAC highlighted the basic needs of the rural mass in the agriculture sectors and the strategies for the promotion of livelihood-based avenues in agriculture and allied sectors for employment and economic benefits. He further emphasized the production of quality fish seeds and planting materials for assured return from the agricultural products.
Dr. Deepjyoti Baruah, Scientist In-Charge, IARI, Assam briefed the field-based research, trials, and outreach programmes being undertaken by ICAR-IARI, Assam since its inception in 2017.
Dr. Anil Kr Pegu, OSD, MAC further deliberated on the various activities undertaken in the MAC areas benefiting the community as a whole.
Dr. AK Srivastava, Principal Scientist, IARI, Assam proposed to introduce a cropping system to utilize rice fallow.
Dr. K.B. Pun, former Nodal Officer, IARI, Assam, underlined the need to develop good mother stock to achieve high yields of fruits in the region.
The executive members of the MAC suggested developing skill oriented capacity building programmes in collaboration with IARI Assam.
The meeting was attended by 30 participants including the scientists of IARI Assam and Executive Members of Mising Autonomous Council.
