A State Level Virtual Interface Meeting on Enhancing the Preparedness for Agriculture Contingencies during Kharif 2023 for Andhra Pradesh was jointly organized by ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, and the Department of Agriculture, Government of Andhra Pradesh today.

Shri. Gopala Krishna Dwivedi, Chief Commissioner, Rytu Bharosa Kendras and Pr. Secretary, Dept of Agri, Sri C Hari Kiran, Special Commissioner, Dept of Agriculture, Govt of AP, Dr. V.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, Dr. L Prasanti, Director (Res), ANGRAU, Representatives of ICAR institutes located in AP, District Agriculture Officers of various districts, Project Coordinators of KVKs, Scientists of AICRPDA, AICRPAM, Anantapur, Scientists from ICAR-CRIDA attended the meeting.
Dr K.V. Rao, Principle Scientist, ICAR-CRIDA Presented the seasonal rainfall forecast by SASCOF & IMD, and monthly rainfall forecasts by IMD (June& July) and discussed with officials and scientists about implications.
The district officials presented the contingency plans for their respective districts in the event of insufficient rainfall at different time periods and projected the requirement of various inputs.
Considering the probable state of rainfall during June, July, and the whole season, suggestions were to monitor the sown areas, precautions to be taken up for unsown areas, and plan for alternate crops in canal command areas in case of delay or insufficient flows in canals.
