ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, organised ‘Community empowerment through sensitization, capacity development, and input distribution’ events for the fish farmers under the SCSP component in collaboration with WBCADC Krishi Vigyan Kendra Sonamukhi, West Bengal, on 26th November 2023 and in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kalyan, Purulia, West Bengal on 27th November 2023 respectively.

Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR), Dr. U. K. Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NBFGR, Dr. T. Damodaran, Director, ICAR-CISH, Dr. Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, and other dignitaries were present at KVK, Sonamukhi.

Shri. Swami Vashkarananda, Secretary, Kalyan, Dr. Sarkar, Dr. Dey), Dr. M. K. Bhattacharjya, Head, KVK, Kalyan, Purulia and other dignitaries were present at KVK, Kalyan, Purulia.

Key contributions included the distribution of fish feed, fish seed, FRP ornamental fish tanks and fish carriers or handis to more than 100 SCSP beneficiaries. These initiatives aimed not only at bolstering traditional fish farming but also at promoting the growth of ornamental fish culture, a field with significant potential.
