Kerala Agricultural University students visit ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata

A group of students from the College of Agriculture, Vellanikkara, Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), visited ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Kolkata to enhance their understanding of frontline agricultural extension systems. During the visit, students gained insights into the role of ICAR-ATARI and its 59 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across the region.

 

Dr Pradip Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, highlighted the achievements of KVKs, central sector schemes, the ARYA program, and digital agriculture. He emphasized the importance of frontline extension as a promising career.

 

The session provided the students with an in-depth understanding of agricultural extension models, innovative dissemination methods, and policy-driven initiatives, motivating them to play an active role in shaping the future of Indian agriculture.

A total of 112 students and 3 teachers participated in the programme, which aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical agricultural extension, inspiring students to explore innovative outreach strategies and career opportunities in frontline extension services.
