Kisan Mela on High-Density Planting System in Cotton

ICAR- Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad, KVK, Hayathnagar Research Farm organised a Kisan Mela on High-Density Planting System in Cotton under the special cotton project of ICAR-Central Institute for Cotton Research, Nagpur, entitled ‘Targeting Technologies to Agro-Ecological Zones- Large Scale Demonstrations of Best Practices to Enhance Cotton Productivity’ today.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Y. G. Prasad, Director, ICAR-Cotton Research Institute, Nagpur, inaugurated the publication on HDPS cotton and reiterated the benefits of cultivating cotton in this method.

Dr. DBV Ramana, Principal Scientist (Livestock Production and Management) and Head, KVK, briefed about the role of HDPS cotton in enhancing the crop productivity and income of the farmers.

Dr. M Srinivasa Rao, Director-In-Charge, ICAR-CRIDA, emphasised the role of drone technology and the use of shredders for various crop operations thus reducing the cost of cultivation and improving crop productivity.

The dignitaries honored and recognized the efforts of practicing farmers and the supporting officials in HDPS Cotton cultivation.

Dr. S. Vijaya Kumar, SMS (Agril Engg.) and Nodal Officer, HDPS Cotton, highlighted the importance of water management practices during the critical/stress stages of the crop and also explained the benefits of micro irrigation system establishment in HDPS Cotton fields.

Officials from ICAR-CRIDA, Agricultural officer, Agriculture Extension Officer from the Department of Agriculture, attended the programme.

A total of 345 farmers from Ranga Reddy District including tribal farmers participated and interacted in the Kisan Mela.
