29th Zonal Workshop of KVKs organized at KVK Morena, Madhya Pradesh

Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare inaugurated the 29th Zonal Workshop of Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Tomar said that the KVKs and agricultural scientists have played an important role in the development of agriculture in the country.
Shri Tomar further stated that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi desires that people to be attracted towards agriculture, for this, scientists and farmers along with all others should encouraged.
While discussing in the interest of the farmers, he said that today the farmers of the village are fully aware and educated. Referring to the schemes being implemented by the Central Government for the benefit of the farmers, he said that the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is a boon for the farmers, every farmer should take advantage of it. In the last six years, a compensation of Rs 1.24 lakh crore has been given to the farmers under this scheme, he added.
Shri Tomar said that it is the responsibility of our agricultural scientists to find solutions to various issues in the field of agriculture. He stressed that due to the progress made under the leadership of Prime Minister, today many countries of the world are discussing with India on things related to Agri-food. He also exhorted that India is a leader in agricultural production, milk production, food processing in the world and is progressing continuously.
On this occasion, the Union Minister also inaugurated the Seed Hub on Pulses at KVK Morena, Seed Hub Oilseeds at ZARS Morena and exhibition of KVKs depicting the technological modules, value added products developed by KVKs and progressive farmers.
Shri Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India addressed the participants and visited exhibition stalls on 12th November 2022. He emphasized on creating awareness about natural farming and urged KVK scientists to work towards promotion of natural farming.
During valedictory session on 13th November, 2022, Dr. V. P. Chahal, Deputy Director General (AE), ICAR-New Delhi in his address briefed about the new initiatives of KVK in technology application for empowerment of farmers and farm women even in tribal areas with ICT tools. Also, KVK-ATMA Convergence model of ATARI, Jabalpur needs be replicated in other states.
Shri Abhay Mahajanji, DRI, Chitrakoot stated the need of further strengthening the KVKs and SAUs.
Dr. S. K Rao, Vice Chancellor, RVSKVV, Gwalior, M.P. advocated large scale promotion of Integrated farming system for efficient resource utilization and sustainable development.
Dr A. K. Singh, Vice-chancellor, RLCAU, Jhansi appreciated the works done by KVKs for speedy progress of agriculture in the Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. He emphasized developing production plan with focus on reducing cost of cultivation coupled with marketing strategy so that farmer’s income could be enhanced. Start-up in agriculture needs to be promoted among rural youth and KVK should make effort to establish 20-25 start-up in the district.
Dr. S.R.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Jabalpur in his welcome address highlighted the significant achievement of the Zone IX, KVKs on the basis of which KVKs received best national KVK awards from ICAR and recognition at national level.
