National Potato Day celebrated

15th February 2025, Aligarh 

The National Potato Day was organized at the Rashi Seeds and Sid Flora ground in Aligarh district under the SCSP Project and Agri Drone Project. The programme featured advanced potato production technology and a live demonstration of drone technology, attracting participation from over 300 farmers, including potato growers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and exporters.

 

The Chief Guest, Dr S. Rajan, Former Director, ICAR-CISH, Lucknow, emphasized the importance of innovation in potato farming. 

The experts explained the nutrient requirements essential for maximizing potato yields and provided insights into the Seed Plot Technique, a crucial method in potato seed production. They also elaborated on effective insect and disease management strategies for the crop.

 

As part of the SCSP project, 10 farmers from the Scheduled Caste (SC) community were provided with spray machines to enhance their farming practices.

Simultaneously an overview of quality potato seed production, highlighting its role in ensuring better yields and profitability for farmers was also provided during the programme.

This programme aimed to introduce modern farming techniques and technological advancements to potato growers. 

The event concluded with interactive sessions, where farmers engaged with experts to discuss best practices in potato farming and emerging agricultural technologies.
