National Symposium on Digital Farming: The Future of Indian Agriculture

2nd – 3rd February 2023, Bhopal

The National Symposium on ‘Digital Farming: The Future of Indian Agriculture’ was organized by the Indian Society of Agrophysics at ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal during February 2-3, 2023.

The Symposium focused on core aspects of digitization of agriculture integrating cutting-edge digital technology into the farm production system and natural resource management, including artificial intelligence, Big Data Analytics, drone remote sensing, sensors, and communication networks.

Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR delivered the 9th Dr. B.P. Ghildyal Memorial Lecture delivered on “Resilient Indian Agriculture”. The lecture highlighted cutting-edge research on India’s preparedness for climate-resilient agriculture.

The symposium included different technical sessions including oral and poster presentations. There were a total of 45 oral and 38 poster presentations including five lead lectures delivered by eminent scientists working on different aspects of digital agriculture.

Dr. A.K. Singh, Former Vice-Chancellor (RVSKVV, Gwalior) & Former DDG (NRM), Dr. Ashok K Patra, Former Director (ICAR-IISS, Bhopal), graced the occasion.

Dr. A. K Singh, Former Vice Chancellor, (RVSKVV), Gwalior and former DDG (NRM), ICAR was awarded the Fellow of the Indian Society of Agrophysics.

Dr. A.B. Singh, Director (Acting), ICAR-IISS, Bhopal delivered welcome address.

The symposium was attended by about 150 delegates including Scientists, Academicians, Research Associates, young professionals, and students from different Research Institutes and Universities from all over India.
