The National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP), Component- 2 organized a National Symposium on “Mainstreaming of Agricultural Higher Education by Private Universities in India”, a unique initiative undertaken by ICAR – National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad today


Dr. R C Agrawal, Deputy Director General (Education) and National Director of NAHEP highlighted the need for transformation of agricultural education in the country in the wake of the National Agricultural Education Policy-2020. He said the ICAR is keen in supporting private agricultural universities in terms of student admissions, and scholarships etc. to those who comply with guidelines such as accreditation.
Dr. Ch Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM highlighted the importance of quality education and the accreditation process. He also extended an invitation for the capacity building of faculty of private universities at the Academy.
The one-day symposium deliberated on four important themes viz. equal opportunity in education and employment, quality assurance in agricultural education, enabling environment for quality education and accreditation in the context of national education policy.
The programme was attended by about 100 participants comprising Chancellors/ Deans/ Directors/ Registrars of about 30 private universities and ICAR.
