National Workshop on One Health Issues: Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance together

ICAR- Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Kausalyaganga, Bhubaneswar in collaboration with the Association of Aquaculturists, a National Workshop was organised on “One Health Issues: Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together” today. The theme for the World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2023 is “Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together”.

Dr (Prof). Shubhransu Patro, Vice Principal, KIMS, Bhubaneswar was the Chief Guest of the workshop. He stressed creating awareness for the one health approach by multiple departments/ stakeholders. Dr. Patro also admonishes creating the awareness from school level to the community level. He mentioned the responsible use of drugs and chemicals in human and animal health management.

Dr. Manoj Kumar Das, Director Projects, INCLEN International, New Delhi was the Guest of Honour of the workshop. He advocated for a year-round approach to preventing antimicrobial resistance, urging farmers to stay informed about other sectors' developments and their impact.

Dr. Pramoda Kumar Sahoo, Director, ICAR-CIFA briefed about the various achievements and technologies developed by the institute. He mentioned the need for such a National Workshop during World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week.

Around 200 participants including scientists KVK, farmers, entrepreneurs and students attended the workshop.
