Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) virtually inaugurated the Annual Vice-Chancellors’ Conference today. In his inaugural address, Dr. Mohapatra appreciated the Vice-Chancellorsof the Agricultural Universitiesfor their significant and unparalleled contributions during the COVID-19 Pandemic period by way of serving the farming community through new technologies and advisory services.
The Director General emphasized on the ICAR’s several new initiatives taken for addressing the quality education in agriculture. He also highlighted the newly constituted new Fellowships for BIMSTEC and ASEAN International Students for better collaborations at the global level. Dr. Mohapatra highlighted the “Kritagya” Hackathon organized by ICAR for solving the agriculture sector’s issues and problems through innovative ideas from students of both the Agricultural and Non-Agricultural Universities.
The DG urged for implementing the New Education Policy - 2020. He outlined the constitution of the committee by the ICAR to suggest a way forward for implementing the NEP-2020 in the Agricultural Universities.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary (ICAR) accentuated on implementing the New Education Policy in Agricultural University on priority and developing their roadmap for the holistic development of the students.
Dr. R.C. Agrawal, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education), ICAR highlighted the achievements made in Agricultural Education and several ICT initiatives during the last few months after the previous Vice-Chancellors’ Conference. He urged to the Vice-Chancellors for using the online systems for accreditation, ranking, academic management, experts and project management, etc.
Padma Shri, Dr. B.S. Dhillon, President, Indian Association of Agricultural Universities underlined the various initiatives and achievements made by the Indian Association of Agricultural Universities during the past few months. He flagged some of the issues regarding the Agricultural Universities to deliberate amongst the Vice-Chancellors.
Dr. P.S. Pandey, ADG (Agricultural Education, Planning and Home Science), ICAR proposed the vote of thanks.
The Vice-Chancellors of Agricultural Universities, Deputy Directors General of ICAR, Senior Officials of the ICAR Education Division and NAHEP virtually participated in the Conference.
