The ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha organised one-day “Awareness Programme-cum-Exhibition on Value Chain Development in Nabarangpur District, Odisha” today.
Shri Ramesh Majhi, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha marked his presence as the Chief Guest along with, Shri Sadashiv Pradhani, MLA, Nabarangpur; Shri Manohar Randhari, MLA, Dabugaon; Shri Manmath Kumar Pani, Additional Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Government of Odisha; Dr. Saroj Kumar Swain, Director, ICAR-CIFA during the event. The programme was chaired by Dr. Ajit Mishra, Collector-cum-DM, Nabarangpur, Odisha.
The programme was aimed at showcasing the technology-based aquaculture development backed by the Institute’s technical expertise. The value chain development initiatives over last three years under the STC Programme and S and Technology Intervention Project resulted in the linked aquaculture enterprises from seed to ready-to-eat products.
The farmers and entrepreneurs showcased their products and achievements like Success Stories developed under the intervention of ICAR-CIFA. The farmers also arranged for a Live Fish Selling Stall, sold around 1 tonne of Live Fish at Rs. 200 / Kg. The Feed Producers’ Groups jointly launched “Indravati” Brand Fish Feed.
Around 70 farmers were provided the Floating Fish Feed for seed and fish production.
The senior officials of ICAR Institutes and State Agricultural Universities also participated in the programme.
A total of 200 farmers participated in the programme.
