The Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi celebrated the Indian Constitution Day - 2020 today to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India on 26th November, 1949.
The occasion marked the delivery of two lectures on “New Education Policy and Right to Education” and “An insight on Fundamental Rights” by the eminent speakers - Prof. Nishtha Jaswal, Vice-Chancellor, Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and Shri Buddy Ranganadhan, Advocate, Supreme Court, New Delhi during the occasion.
In his address, Dr. R.C. Agrawal, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education), ICAR & National Director, National Agricultural Higher Education Project highlighted the National Agricultural Research, Education and Extension (NAREE) system’s contribution towards the food and nutritional security of the country.
Prof. Nishtha Jaswal emphasized on the importance of quality and safe education. She also talked about the teacher-student relationship, online education, revamping the peered review research system, student and teachers-centric education system, etc.
Shri Buddy Ranganadhan outlined all the six fundamental rights originally provided by the Constitution, that is, the right to equality, right to freedom, right against exploitation, right to freedom of religion, cultural and educational rights and right to constitutional remedies. He cited many examples and exemplary judgements while explaining the Fundamental Rights.
The Webinar registered a total participation by 300 participants including Vice-Chancellors, Deans, Professors from State Agricultural Universities, Directors and Scientists from ICAR Institutes and Eminent Professionals from various fields.
