ICAR-IIRR, Hyderabad celebrates 6th Foundation Day

The ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad celebrated its “6th Foundation Day” today.

In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. S.B. Barbuddhe, Director, ICAR-National Research Centre on Meat, Hyderabad applauded the Institute’s successful collaboration between the ICAR-NRC on Meat and ICAR-IIRR, Hyderabad for initiating the straw management as a new idea in place of burning. He also complemented the Institute for the release of varieties, donors identified for specific traits for specific purposes followed by publications in high rated journals.

The Guest of Honor, Dr. Arun Shanker, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad lauded the ICAR-IIRR, Hyderabad’s significant contributions in terms of development of several rice varieties, production and protection technologies.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. S.R. Voleti, Director, ICAR-IIRR, Hyderabad apprised about the Institute’s historical progress from ICAR-All India Coordinated Rice Improvement Programme (ICAR-AICRIP) to ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research (ICAR-IIRR), Hyderabad.

The latest issue of Journal of Rice Research and new version of ICAR-IIRR’s Website were released on the occasion. The three “Best Research Paper Awards” were also conferred to the scientists during the occasion.
