The ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha organized the “Review Meeting of Nutri-Smart Village Programme” here today.
Delivering his address, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) regarded the Nutri-Smart Village Programme as a national responsibility to develop the Model Villages showing the Agri-Nutri linkage to address malnutrition in the country. “The Scientists should select the appropriate interventions based on the baseline survey, clinical analysis, nutritional profile of the food items and the nutritional gap existing in the Villages and School Children should be involved for nutrition awareness and education”, urged the Director General.
Dr. P.S. Pandey, ADG (EP&HS), ICAR underlined the restructuring and reorienting of AICRP (Women in Agriculture) for better implementation of the Nutri-Smart Village Programme by associating the Anganwadi / Community Workers.
Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries, Dr. Anil Kumar, Director, ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar highlighted about the nutritional awareness, establishment of Nutri-Gardens and homestead agriculture implemented by the Institute & AICRP Centres under the Nutri-Smart Village Programme.
Dr. Lipi Das, Principal Scientist (Agricultural Extension) & Nodal Officer, AICRP (Women in Agriculture) outlined the salient achievements of the Nutri-Smart Village Programme.
