National Symposium on

Two-Day National Symposium on Disability, Assistive Technology and Farming in India was organized at ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal.  The symposium was organized jointly by Society for Disability and Rehabilitation Studies (New Delhi) and the ICAR-CIAE (Bhopal).

Dr. KK Singh, Director, ICAR-CIAE Bhopal in his inaugural address emphasized the need for developing engineering technologies suitable for persons with disability. 

Dr. GN Karna, Honorary President of Society for Disability and Rehabilitation Studies, New Delhi stressed the need for developing technologies for employment generation of persons with disabilities to ensure their empowerment and livelihood.

The major recommendations of the symposium include sensitizing agricultural scientists involved in R&D and technical institutions to undertake R&D and skill development programmes for the persons with disabilities which could eventually help them earn their livelihood with dignity
