Capacity building programme on “Soil test and target yield approach for increased crop productivity”

A field day cum capacity building programme , “Soil test and target yield approach for increased crop productivity” under Transfer of Technology programme of ICAR-AICRP on Soil Test Crop Response was organized on 7th March, 2016 at Ngairangbam village of Haorang Sabal Block, Imphal West district, Manipur. The programme was organized to popularize the importance of soil test based fertilizer application for improved crop productivity among tribal farmers.

Dr. Pradip Dey, Project Coordinator (STCR) explained the soil health card scheme and targeted yield approach for improving crop productivity and maintaining soil health especially in Rice-Lentil cropping system.

 Dr. N. Prakash, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Imphal emphasised on the use of organics and biofertilizers as a part of IPNS based STCR approach.

Thirty five farmers including seventeen women farmers from of five villages, viz., Khumbong, Moidangpok, Maklang and Kamong and Karong of Imphal West district participated in the event.
