ILRI-ICAR Workshop on Communication and Knowledge Management in Animal Science Research and Development

Dr.Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR) inaugurated “ILRI-ICAR Workshop on Communication and Knowledge Management in Animal Science Research and Development” here today. In his address, he emphasized the need to further strengthen relations between ILRI and ICAR in this field for better outreach of research outcomes. He stressed value-chains can be developed across livestock sector through mobilization of stakeholders with relatively low investment. Dr Mohapatra also suggested some of the areas where ICAR-ILRI collaboration can go long way.

Dr James Wilson Smith, Director General, International Livestock Research Institute, in his address as Chief Guest, highlighted the important and increasing role of livestock sector in sustaining food security at global level. He hoped that deliberations in this workshop will help enhanced sharing of experiences in livestock sector with appropriate communication strategies.

Dr. A. K. Singh, DDG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR shared his experiences in extension issues related to livestock sector at ground level.

Dr. H. Rahman, DDG (Animal Sciences), ICAR, elaborated upon various areas of collaboration with ILRI in various sector.

Dr Rameshwar Singh, Project Director, ICAR-Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture, New Delhi, Dr Alok Jha, ILRI Regional Representative for South Asia, Mr Peter Ballantyne, Head, Communications and Knowledge Management, ILRI outlined the objectives, theme and work plan of the workshop.

Senior Officials, scientists and communication experts of ICAR and its Institutes and ILRI participated in the workshop.
