  5. Genotypes with multiple resistance identified: The following genotypes with multiple resistance have been identified and may be utilized in breeding for resistance programme.

Resistant to leaf blight (LB): HD 2867
    Moderately Resistant to LB: NIDW 295, HPW 217, HPW 228, HS 443, HPW 224, HS 456, HS 460, VL 868, VL 867, HD 2865.

Karnal Bunt + Flag Smut + Leaf Blight (MR): VL 865

    (b) Resistant to leaf and stripe rusts +
Resistant to Leaf Blight + Karnal Bunt: HD 2867
Moderately Resistant to Leaf Blight + Karnal Bunt : CBW 23

  7. In view of the distribution of the seed material among the farmers and the use of the carry over of the seed, loose smut control measures should be undertaken in North India. For this, seed treatment with carboxin (Vitavax 75 WP @ 2.5 gm/kg seed), carbendazium (Bavistin 50 WP @ 2.5 gm/kg seed), tebuconazole (Raxi 2 DS @ 1.25 gm/kg seed) or a combination of a reduced dosage of Vitavax 75 WP @ 1.25 gm/kg seed).
  8. For optimum yield of wheat under zero tillage, placement of 1/3rd N and full P&K as basal and top dressing 2/3 N at first node stage should be done as in conventional tillage.
  9. For control of weeds in wheat under zero tillage in NWPZ and NEPZ, sulfosulforon @ 25 g/ha or tank mix of isoproturaon and 2, 4-D (750 + 500 g/ha) should be sprayed after first irrigation. In addition, metribuzin @ 210 g/ha was also found equally effective in NEPZ when sprayed after first irrigation.
  10. For optimum yield of wheat in central zone, 50 kg S/ha through gypsum should be applied as basal.
