International Workshop on Fish Genomics organised at ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai during 19-21th January.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. W.S. Lakra, Director and Vice-Chancellor, ICAR-CIFE and emphasized on global leadership by ICAR scientists in the changing world.
The workshop included a series of lectures and interactive sessions on various topics on fish genomics such as an overview on catfish genomics, Generation and assembly of Nextgen genomic sequences, RNA-seq and assembly of transcriptome, Bioinformatic mining and genetic analysis of DNA markers, Allele specific gene expression, Development of SNP arrays and genetic analysis of DNA markers etc.
Prof. Zhanjiang (John) Liu, Associate Provost & Associate Vice President for Research, and Professor, School of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences, Auburn University, USA was the key resource person of the workshop.
The workshop was attended by 144 participants including faculty/scientists and students from CIFE and scientists from other fisheries research institutes.
