A skill development programme for fisherwomen on “Net making and mending” was organized by Fishing Technology Division of ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin during 8-12 August, 2016.
Shri K.J. Maxy, Member of the Legislative Assembly, Cochin constituency inaugural address emphasised the need for empowerment of women through such training programmes in making them competent in the fisheries sector.
Dr. C.N. Ravishankar, Director, ICAR-CIFT presided over the inaugural function.
Fifteen participants from Chellanam Kandakadavu Fishermen Welfare Society, attended the training programme. The programme featured hands on training for mending and making of different fishing nets operated along the Kerala coast.
