Model Training Course on “Post-Harvest Management of Temperate Fruits and their Value Addition”

cith-01-28032017A eight-day Model Training Course on “Post-Harvest Management of Temperate Fruits and their Value Addition“was organized (18-25th March 2017) at ICAR-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, Srinagar (J&K).

The training was sponsored by Directorate of Extension, Department of Agriculture cooperation & Farmers welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers welfare, Government of India.

The main objective of the training was to create awareness among the horticulture officers/extension functionaries of different states on recent trends in post-harvest management and value addition technologies for reduction of losses and income generation through entrepreneurship development.

Faculty includes experts from ICAR-CITH and CITH, Regional station, Mukteshwer (UK), NBPGR Regional station-Srinagar and SKUAST (Kashmir).

Besides field visits, hands on training on post harvest management and preparation of value added products was also imparted.  

The participant also visited some progressive farmer’s orchards and packaging units, CA storage, processing units of Jammu and Kashmir.

The trainees were also exposed to advanced production technologies developed by ICAR-CITH, Srinagar in field of temperate horticultural crops.

A total of 23 state department officials from 4 States i.e. Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir participated in the programme.
