ICT based e-Pest surveillance and advisory services for rice farmers of Tripura during Boro 2018

Training and orientation course on ICT based e-Pest surveillance and advisory services for rice farmers of Tripura during Boro 2018 was jointly organised by the ICAR-National Research Centre for Integrated Pest Management, New Delhi and Department of Agriculture, Tripura on 16th January 2018 for newly engaged Pest scout and Data entry Operator at Pragna Bhawan Agartala, Tripura

Dr D.B. Ahuja, Director, ICAR-NRCIPM in his inaugural address emphasized the importance of this project in timely dissemination and application of the IPM practices for management of different rice pests. 

Dr. D.P. Sarkar Director of Agriculture, Tripura & Mission Director NFSM-Rice in his key note address said the initial success of pilot work was achevied on survey-surveillance of rice pest-diseases in Dhalai and North Tripura District for  Boro rice in year 2016 and for Kharif season 2017, conducted with financial and technical support of  ICAR-NCIPM. The present  pest surveillance has been taken up in a bigger way under the scheme for National Food Security Mission (NFSM)-Rice, in West, Khowai, Dhalai, Sepahijala, Gumati and South Tripura District for  ongoing Boro Season 2018. All boro rice growing R.D. blocks of these districts were brought under this work covering 79000 ha area for Boro rice and the work is initiated from January 2018 Field level data on prevalence of pest and disease on boro rice will be recorded on weekly basis by the trained Pest Scouts and these data will be uploaded in ICAR-NRCIPM server and after analysis of field data area specific necessary advisories will be sent to the farmers through SMS.

Training manual in the form of a flipbook published jointly by the State Department of Agriculture, Tripura and NCIPM, New Delhi was also released in this workshop.
