Indian Forest Service (IFS) Probationers Trained at ICAR-NAARM

The National Academy of Agricultural Research management (ICAR-NAARM), Hyderabad organized a tailor-made training program on “Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and Communication Strategies” during 06 – 07 October 2018 at its premises for the IFS probationers of 2017 batch.

Apart from 84 IFS Probationers, two officer belonging to Royal Bhutan Forest Service also participated. The training was organized as a part of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between ICAR-NAARM and Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA), Dehradun.  

The training comprised of hands-on modules on various PRA tools, mobile-based digital communication techniques, use of analytical hierarchy process (AHP) for prioritization of decisions and an experiential learning module on panel discussion. The probationers were introduced to the emerging issues in natural resource management with respect to climate change and were sensitized on the need to work with researchers as collaborators, so as to harness the benefits of synergy. Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM emphasized that this is the beginning of a long-term partnership between the two National Academies of international repute and wished all the probationers a successful career.
