8 March - 4 April, 2019, Lucknow
The ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow in collaboration with National Fisheries Development Board, Hyderabad organized the four Training Programmes on "Fish Milt Cryo-preservation for Genetic Up-gradation of Broodstock" at its campus from 8th March to 4th April, 2019.
The Chief Guest, Dr. K.K. Lal, Director, NBFGR inaugurated the programme.
The main aim of the Training Programme was to demonstrate the viability of fish milt cryo-preservation technique in replacing the existing male brood stock available at hatchery operators that are repeatedly crossed to produce seed for aquaculture. The process resulted in the production of inferior quality seed and contributed to the production loss while stocking them for aquaculture.
A total of 88 hatchery operators from West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh participated in the programme.
