The five-day Training Programme on “Recent technologies in Animal Nutrition and Fertility management” organized by the ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bengaluru at its campus concluded today.
The programme sponsored by the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad was organized from 17th to 21st June, 2019.
The Chief Guest of the Valedictory Function, Dr. K.T. Sampath, Former Director, ICAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology, Bengaluru emphasized on the need of the field application and propagation of the effective technologies among the farmers for improving the livestock productivity.
Earlier, the training programme was inaugurated by Dr. M.T. Manjunath, Director, AH&VS, Government of Karnataka.
In his address, Dr. Raghavendra Bhatta, Director, NIANP outlined the importance of feed and fertility management of livestock in order to improve their efficiency of production. Highlighting the various technologies developed by the Institute, Dr. Bhatta stressed on the crucial role of field Veterinarians in effectively transferring the technologies among the livestock farmers.
The main aim of the programme was to benefit the District level Veterinary Officers working in the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Cooperatives.
The programme focused on:
- Agronomic management of new varieties of forage crops and fodder trees.
- Alternate feed resources for livestock, conservation of fodder, hydroponics and azolla cultivation.
- Nutritional management, precision feeding and ration balancing.
- Amelioration strategies for greenhouse gases.
- Stress management for improving the livestock’s productivity.
- Shelter management for better productivity.
- Fertility assessment and management of bulls.
- Early embryonic mortality and prevention strategies.
- Recent advances in female reproduction.
Around 25 participants from the various States attended the programme.
