Orientation Training Programme on Model Organic Farming

ATARI-Hyd-0126082019The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Hyderabad organized a One-day Orientation Training Programme today.

The programme was organized for the Nodal Officers of 45 Krishi Vigyan Kendras implementing the cluster demonstrations on model organic farming under Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY) during the Year - 2019-20.

Dr. Y.G. Prasad, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad outlined the aim of the training to create the awareness on the guidelines of PKVY and Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) for India.

He urged the Nodal officers for focusing on the selection of suitable villages in a cluster mode, participating local group of farmers with abiding interest in on-farm production of inputs and the amenable crops suitable for the organic production.

Shri P. Venugopala Reddy, Chairman, Ekalavya Foundation and designated Regional Councils under the PGS-India in Telangana stressed on the need for including the traditional knowledge of farmers while developing the organic farming models through the cluster approach.

Dr. G.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Executive Director, Centre for Sustainable Agriculture (CSA) and Regional Council of PGS-India from Telangana gave the special emphasis on the certification procedures and tapping of the market potential for the organic produce.

A total of 45 Heads & Subject Matter Specialists of KVKs in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry participated in the programme.
