Academia-Industry-Government Linkages: A Consultative Workshop concludes at ICAR-NAARM

naarm-01-27082019.jpgThe two-day Consultative Workshop on “Academia-Industry-Government linkages for Quality Agricultural Education” organized by the ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad concluded today. The Workshop was organized as a part of the World Bank sponsored National Agricultural Higher Education Project Component - 2A from 23rd to 24th August, 2019.

The Chief Guest of the Plenary Session, Smt. V. Usha Rani, I.A.S. and Director General, MANAGE, Hyderabad opined for the common forum for the periodical meeting of the stakeholders for discussions. She also urged to arrange the exposure visit of the students to industry on a regular practice in the universities.

Dr. V. Praveen Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University delivered the keynote address on “Strengthening partnership between academia and industry”. He highlighted the University’s initiatives towards the industry collaboration during the last five years.

Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM urged for improving the linkage particularly between the State Government Department and the Universities.

The main aim of the workshop was to assist the agricultural universities in strengthening their linkages with the industry. To structure the dialogue with the State Government for catalyzing their participation in raising the quality and relevance of the agricultural higher education was one of the objectives of the workshop.

Around 40 experts from academia (Agricultural Universities), industry and government from the states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry participated in the workshop.
