The Short-term International Training Programme for African Countries on “Orientation of Recent Advances of IPM Technology through Extension Skills” organized at the ICAR-National Research Centre for Integrated Pest Management, New Delhi was inaugurated today.
The programme sponsored by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India under the India-Africa Forum Summit - III is being organized from 3rd to 12th September, 2019.
Dr. A.K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Crops and Horticultural Science), ICAR stated that the programme will help the delegates to learn out technologies and implement them in their countries.
Dr. Rajan, ADG (Plant Protection and Bio-safety), ICAR lauded the ICAR- NCIPM’s efforts to disseminate the IPM. He briefed about the recent development in plant protection in the country.
Earlier, Dr. H.R. Sardana, Director, ICAR-NCIPM briefed about the IPM protocols developed by the Centre. He also emphasized on the need for using the label claimed pesticides.
Dr. Mukesh Sehgal, Principal Scientist and Co-coordinator briefed about the course’s genesis.
The main aim of the training programme is to make the best use of IPM strategies in the African countries.
A total of 12 Delegates from 9 countries are participating in the programme.
