The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Hyderabad and India Meteorological Department (IMD) jointly organized a 6-day Short-Term Training Course from 14th to 19th October, 2019 at Hyderabad.

The capacity building aimed to impart the knowhow and do-how of issuing value added Agromet advisories to the farmers at the block level. The various aspects like interpretation of weather forecasts issued by IMD, contingency crop planning, generation of Agromet advisories relating to the crop phenology and methods of dissemination of the advisories to reach beneficiaries at the block level were discussed during the programme.

The main objective of the training was to impart knowledge and skills to 45 newly recruited Subject Matter Specialists (Agro-meteorology) and Agromet Observers of the 24 District Agromet Units (DAMUs) established in Krishi Vigyan Kendras across Andhra Pradesh (9), Telangana (4), Tamil Nadu (10) and Puducherry (1).
The Senior Officials of ICAR Institutes, Agricultural Universities and IMD participated in the programme.
