A two day National Seminar on "Soil Health Assessment with Mridaparikshak" was held at ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science, Bhopal during 04-05 November, 2016.

In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. A.K. Singh, Vice Chancellor, RVSKVV, Gwalior gave an overview of the importance of Soil Health Cards and its economic benefits to the ultimate stakeholder.
Dr. Ashok.K..Patra, Director, ICAR-IISS in his welcome address spoke on the need for soil health assessment and the origin of Mridaparikshak project.
Dr. S. S. Khanna, Ex-Advisor, Planning Commission, Govt. of India, elaborated on the basic criteria for soil testing and the soil sampling procedures for effective soil health assessment.
Dr. S.S. Tomar, Additional Commissioner, (INM), DAC&FW, Govt. of India gave an account of the Soil Health Card Mission, the flagship scheme of the Prime Minister and its targets and achievements. He also informed that the crop diversification and INM is required to boost up the farm productivity.
Dr. M.L. Meena, Director Agriculture, Department of Agriculture, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh emphasized that Soil Health Card may be made available in local language of farmers.
The two days Seminar was attended by about 150 delegates including invited subject matter experts, past Presidents of Indian Society of Soil Science, scientists from ICAR institutions and SAU’s, Krishi Vigyan Kendras and industry representatives.
