The Minister inaugurated Training and Demonstration Programme on Livelihood and Nutritional Security for Tribal family of Sonbhadra District of Uttar Pradesh under Tribal Sub-Plan 2014-17. He urged the farmers to adopt improved cultivars and production/protection technology developed by IIVR to increase the farm productivity. He encouraged farmers to take timely advice from the scientist of the institute with respect to recommended doses of fertilizers and plant protection measures. 

On this occasion, Shri Bhagat released a bi-lingual publication on “ICAR-IIVR Technologies for Commercialization and visited the Research farm and laboratory of the institute.He alsointeracted with 41 tribal families from 14 adopted villages selected for this training and distributed high quality vegetable seeds and sprayer under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) programme.

Dr.Bijendra Singh, Director, ICAR-IIVR, in his welcome address briefed about achievements and ongoing research and extension activities of the institute. He also informed about the successful transfer of technologies developed by the institute through training and demonstrations in 40 villages of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar under “MeraGaonMera Gaurav” and “SansadAdarshGaon” programme besides Tribal Sub-Plan in 14 tribal villages of Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh.
