DG, ICAR inaugurates the Regional Horticultural Fair 2017 at ICAR-IIHR

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra , Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) inaugurated Regional Horticultural Fare (RHF) 2017 at ICAR- Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru here today.

Dr Mohapatra, in his inaugural address, emphasized on strengthening linkages between Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), processing and value addition and remunerative market. He urged that providing such link is the onus of research institutes and state development departments. He suggested that the research institutes and state development departments should establish a MoU to support FPOs with adequate processing/ value addition and market linkage.

He also inaugurated the Golden Jubilee Orchidarium and visited the demonstration plots, wherein ICAR-IIHR technologies were demonstrated.

DG later visited exhibition stallI put up by CAR-National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology at RHF 2017.

Dr PC Ray, Horticultural Commissioner, Government of Karnataka, Dr JK Jena, DDG (Fisheries), Dr Bhaskar, ADG (NRM), also  graced the event.

The five-day Regional Horticultural Fair 2017 envisages knowledge sharing process on innovative horticultural technologies developed under National Agricultural Research and Education System (NARES) to the stakeholders of, mainly southern states such as Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Puducherry and also other states. The RHF is being organized as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of ICAR-IIHR

Directors and Senior Officials of ICAR Institutes and State Agricultural Universities attended in the event.

More than 2500 farmers participated in the first day of the RHF 2017.
