The ICAR-Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh organized the “Zonal Breeders and Plant Protection Scientists Meet of All India Coordinated Research Project on Sugarcane” today.

Delivering the inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Tilak Raj Sharma, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR emphasized on the varietal profile for the different traits to meet the future challenges.

Dr. R.K. Singh, ADG (Commercial Crops), ICAR and Dr. G. Hemaprabha, Principal Investigator and Director, ICAR-SBI, Coimbatore, Karnataka also deliberated during the occasion.

Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries, Dr. A.D. Pathak, Director & Project Coordinator (Sugarcane), ICAR-IISR, Lucknow highlighted the salient outcome of the Project and the impact on increasing the sugarcane yield and recovery in the country.

More than 125 Scientists including Breeders, Plant Pathologists and Entomologists working on Sugarcane deliberated on the various issues to finalize the technical programme of the varietal development programme.
