Department of Food and Agricultural Process Engineering, Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) organized three days workshop of All India Coordinated Research Project on “Post Harvest Engineering and Technology” (4-6 January, 2016). About more than 100 scientists participated in the workshop.
Dr. K. Ramasamy, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU, Coimbatore and chief guest, in his address, emphasized that value addition is the best way to minimize post harvest loss .He cited examples of processing methods developed by TNAU.
Dr. K. Alagusundaram, Deputy Director of General, Agriculture Engineering, ICAR, insisted on the consortium or value chain mode of research rather than the conventional mode which will facilitate the delivery of benefits to farmers immediately.
