Agricultural Societies Should Work as Resource Center-AyyappanDr S Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research has urged agricultural societies to work as a resource center for agricultural research and development. He was inaugurating the one day Meet of the Presidents, Secretaries, and Key Functionaries of the Professional Societies to discuss achievements and deliberate on the challenges before them. ‘Societies should be clear about their goals and priorities must be set to get the end results in larger interest. Quality of Journals and open and e-access to agricultural science journals should be encouraged’, he added. Dr R.B. Singh, President, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences highlighted the major achievements of NAAS.  

Agricultural Societies Should Work as Resource Center-AyyappanICAR is providing professional support to 79 professional Scientific Societies/ Institutions, Academies. This support includes funding for organizing national and international seminars and helping them for publishing journals and providing open access to them.

Presidents, Secretaries, Treasurers of different Societies and Senior Officials from ICAR participated in the meeting.
