The ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore, Kolkata initiated a National Campaign on “Climate-Resilient Inland Fisheries” under the NICRA Project at Media Wetland, West Bengal today.
In his address, Dr. B.K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore briefed about the main objective of the Campaign.
Dr. U.K. Sarkar, Principal Investigator, NICRA Project & HoD, RWFD, ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore outlined the impact of climate change and stressed on the need for the climate-resilient inland fisheries.
The various issues and challenges faced by the stakeholders were discussed in the Scientists’-Fishers’-Interaction Session held during the occasion.
More than 30 fishers including the Office Bearers of the Primary Fishermen Cooperative Society participated in the Campaign organized as a part of the “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence.
