Minister of State for Agriculture & Food Processing Industries visited CIRCOT Mr. Tariq Anwar, Minister of State for Agriculture & Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India visited Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (ICAR), Mumbai  on 12th November 2012.  Mr. Munaf Hakim, Chairman, State Minorities Commission, Govt. of Maharashtra also accompanied him. 

The Minister released a leaflet containing information on Training-cum-Exposure Programme on "Post-harvest Management of Cotton & Value Addition to Crop Residues" to be implemented under Cotton Technical Assistance Programme for Africa which will be held from December 2-16, 2012.  The training is intended for 30 participants from seven African Countries, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Chad, Nigeria, Uganda and Malawi. He also visited various research laboratories of the Institute and held discussions with scientists.

Minister of State for Agriculture & Food Processing Industries visited CIRCOT Mr. Anwar, lauded the progress made by the Institute during the past nine decades and appreciated the work done by the cotton scientists benefitting the farmers in cotton production as well as technological aspects including by-product utilization.  He also wished that Institute should continue to work for the benefit of Indian farmers and strengthen the linkages with the industries to develop cost-effective technologies.

Dr. S.K. Chattopadhyay, Director, CIRCOT made a presentation highlighting CIRCOT's Vision, Mission and Mandate, achievements, current projects and future thrust areas to be implemented during XIIth Plan, Fibre Platform project, Secondary agriculture, Cotton TAP and National Fund Projects. He also highlighted the technologies developed over the years including those under NAIP sub projects.
