The ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Pune, Maharashtra in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture and Food Processing, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh virtually organized a “Training-cum-Awareness Programme for promotion of Kharif Onion Production in Uttar Pradesh” today.
Shri Manoj Singh, Additional Chief Secretary (Horticulture), Lucknow, Government of Uttar Pradesh stressed on the need for giving more attention towards the policy framework to mitigate price crises in Onion.
Dr. R.K. Tomar, Director, Department of Horticulture and Food Processing, Lucknow applauded the Directorate's efforts in technology development on Onion & Garlic. Dr. Tomar also urged the Directorate for the technical support and guidance for extending Onion production in 5,000 ha areas in Uttar Pradesh including 2,000 ha in Kharif season during 2021-22.
Highlighting the importance of Onion cultivation, Dr. Major Singh, Director, ICAR-DOGR, Pune outlined the immense potential of the State for Kharif Onion cultivation.
The programme registered a total participation by 100 participants.
