ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna organized a Brainstorming Workshop on ‘Precision Agriculture in Nutrient Management-present status and future needs in Eastern India’ on 19th November, 2013. The workshop was organized to deliberate on current state of knowledge and technologies and future prospects of Precision Agriculture in smallholder systems of eastern India.
Prof. Saroj Sanyal, Former Vice-Chancellor, BCKV, Mohanpur, West Bengal inaugurated the workshop.
Dr. Steven B. Phillips, Director, International Plant Nutrition Institute – South Eastern USA; Dr. B.P. Bhatt, Director, ICAR Complex for Eastern Region; Dr. Kaushik Majumdar, Director, IPNI-South Asia Program and Dr. M.L. Jat, CIMMYT-CCAFS South Asia Coordinator were also present on the occasion.
Presentation by the key resource persons were followed by in-depth discussions on precision agriculture technologies, available for the smallholder farmers.
Participants from state agriculture universities, state departments of agriculture and ICAR institutes of eastern states (Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand and Eastern UP) participated in the workshop.
This workshop was organized in collaboration with International Plant Nutrition Institute-South Asia Program (IPNI), International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT) and Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS).
