Dr. K.D. Kokate, Deputy Director-General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR inaugurated the ASEAN Training Programme for Agricultural Personnel at NAARM, Hyderabad on 6th January, 2014. While delivering the inaugural address, Dr. Kokate said that sharing of experiences in different countries will improve research and give focus on food value for the poor.
Dr. S.L. Goswami, Director, NAARM gave a brief background of the training programme and said that NAARM provides the forum for sharing of information.
The main objectives of the programme are to provide a bird’s eye overview of India’s agricultural extension systems in terms of structure, agenda, business and performance for enabling cross-country learning and applications by the ASEAN participants; to equip the ASEAN participants with theoretical and practical knowledge on IT applications in agricultural extension delivery (e-Extension) for enhanced performance; to sensitize the participants on the role of the supportive factors for IT application in agricultural extension system, especially at the practical level.
Fourteen participants from Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand, Philippines and India started their training programme on “IT Application for Agricultural Extension (e-extension) for ASEAN” at the NAARM, Hyderabad. The training programme will conclude on 17th January, 2014.
The training programme is supported by ASEAN while Agrinnovate India Limited is the Project Implementation and Management Partner of the programme.
