Virtual Programme on “Promoting Women Agri-preneurship through Crop Livestock-Fisheries Technologies” organized

The ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha and MANAGE, Hyderabad organized a collaborative Virtual Training Programme on “Promoting Women Agri-preneurship through Crop-Livestock-Fisheries Technologies” from 14th to 18th September, 2021.

The Chief Guest, Dr. R.C. Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar stressed on the need for documenting the stories of successful enterprises by rural women.

In his address, Dr. P. Chandra Shekara, Director General, MANAGE, Hyderabad outlined the importance of formation of women’s associations and groups for their holistic empowerment.

Dr. Anil Kumar, Director, ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar accentuated on encouraging women to adopt Entrepreneurship as alternate livelihood option in the current scenario of COVID-19 Pandemic.

Dr. Lipi Das, Principal Scientist (Agricultural Extension), ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar underlined the main objectives of the programme that was aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of extension functionaries on gender sensitive approaches and technologies in agriculture and allied sectors for promoting the Agri-preneurship among the rural women.

A total of 183 participants from 22 states participated in the programme.
