National Research Centre on Yak, Dirang (Arunachal Pradesh) celebrated its 25th Foundation Day on 23rd January, 2014.
Shri Nabam Tuki, Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, Shri Tuki congratulated the entire NRCY fraternity for successfully completing 25 years of glorious existence of the institute. He appreciated significant achievements of the institute towards development of yaks in the country and also stressed upon the transfer of technology from laboratory to the field for economic upliftment of the farmers.
Dr. S. Ray, Former Director, NRC on Yak delivered the Foundation Day Lecture. He appreciated the institute for its remarkable achievements in recent years and advocated intensification of fodder development for ameliorating nutritional deficiency and health control measures towards improvement of yaks. Dr. Ray also released the Silver Jubilee badge during the function.
Shri Takam Sanjoy, Member of Parliament; Shri Phurpa Tsering, Shri R.T. Khunjuju and Shri Kumar Waii, Parliamentary Secretaries cum MLAs; and Shri A.K. Singh, Deputy Commissioner, West Kameng District were also present on the occasion.
Dignitaries also visited the laboratories of National Research Centre on Yak and had interaction with the scientists and staff of the institute.
