Virtual Faculty Development Programme organized

13 - 22 September, 2021, Kolkata

The ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata organized the ten-day Virtual Faculty Development Programme on “Natural Fibre Production, Processing and Evaluation of Value-Added Products” from 13th to 22th September, 2021.

In her inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Sujata Saxena, Director, ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology, Mumbai, Maharashtra highlighted the need for development of stakeholders’ friendly products for the benefit of the society.

In his address, the Chief Guest of the valedictory ceremony, Dr. S.M. Ishtiaque, Emeritus Professor, Department of Textile and Fibre Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi underlined the current scenario of global demand for the natural fibre products and the need of value-addition on natural fibres for their promotion.

Dr. D.B. Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, Kolkata accentuated on the collaborative research work by the various public and private departments to come-up with the innovative concepts to produce a major impact on the export policy of natural fibres & its products and in the growth of the national economy.

The programme was aimed at apprising and updating the knowledge of Researchers, Academician, Entrepreneurs, Students and other Stakeholders on the prospects of Natural Fibre Processing, Value-addition and their evaluation & promotion.

About 28 participants from across the country virtually participated in the programme.
