First Lady of Sikkim Visited NRC Orchids

Mrs. Rajanidevi Shriniwas Patil, first Lady of Sikkim visited National Research Centre for Orchids, Pakyong on 12th March, 2014. She expressed her satisfaction and happiness to see various orchid species under conservation and other developmental works at center. Mrs. Patil also shared her keen interest in promotion of floriculture and ideas on beautification with orchid flowers. During field visit, she also appraised ex-situ conservation of orchid species, varieties developed at NRCO, model floriculture unit, reference collections of DUS unit and ex-vitro hardening.

Dr. R.P. Medhi, Director, NRC for Orchids welcomed Mrs. Patil with scientific team. Dr. Medhi briefed Mrs. Patil about various ongoing projects and technical achievements of the centre. He also informed about other ICAR institutes from North-East India and their role in serving farming community.
