Zonal Project Directorate, Zone-VII Organized a KVK interface Meet at KVK, Jabalpur. Dr. A.K. Sikka, Deputy Director General (NRM) and Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension)/ Additional Charge, ICAR inaugurated the programme.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Sikka emphasized upon the vital role of Krishi Vigyan Kendras in technology Dissemination to the end-users. He appreciated the initiative of ZPD and KVK-ATMA Convergence Model. During interaction with KVKs, Dr. Sikka discussed several farmers’ related aspects like vermi compost production, marketing, plastic mulching, protected cultivation, self help group formation etc. Dr. Sikka also urged the KVK system to dent the Rice-Fallow issue for enhancement in production of oilseed and pulses specially in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh region.
Dr. Sikka also released the ZPD newsletter, ‘Scouting mechanization gaps’ and ‘Steps Ahead to Farmers Rights with to PPVFRA’ on the occasion.
Dr. Anupam Mishra, Zonal Project Director, Zone-VII, Jabalpur presented the salient achievements of ZPD, Zone-VII. He discussed the complex, diversified and risk-prone (CDR) production system in the mandated states viz., rainfed, coastal, tribal, Bundelkhand, disadvantaged, ravines, etc. and the challenging role of KVK scientists to sustain the production and quest for the productivity enhancement.
Dr. S.S. Tomar, Director Research Services; Dr. P.K. Mishra, Director, Extension Services and Dr. P.K. Bisen, Director, Student welfare, JNKVV, Jabalpur were also present on the occasion.
Total 45 participants including 12 KVK programme coordinators, scientists from ZPD Directorate of Extension and ATIC, innovative farmers and faculty members participated in the interface.
Dr. S.R.K. Singh, Senior Scientist coordinated the programme and proposed the vothe of thanks.
